I have i5 7600K, MSI GTX 1070 GAMING X 8G, 16GB 2400 memory, Samsung 960 EVO SSD, WindowsMR headset Lenovo Explorer (2880x1440 resolution). The i5 is defenately the bottleneck in my system. But, in my personal opinion (and considering my gaming PC is only used for gaming), having it disabled, and only running 'trusted' code (as-in anything you trusted enough to install on your PC in the first place) should pose no real risk. Having it disabled and browsing websites is a terribly bad idea from a security standpoint. Remembering to immediately re-enable it afterwards. I'd probably download inSpectre, and try using it to disable the 'Meltdown' protection (which I assume requires a reboot) before any league races.

If I was getting stuttering, didn't have as fast a CPU, and no amount of reduction to graphics settings, or tweaking/streamlining/re-configuring of Windows could solve it.

With the high frequency (not necessarily high volume) of network traffic involved with a P2P racing session with 30 cars in it anyone who, keeps windows updated, and was close to borderline on CPU resources before the 3rd January Meltdown patch could find themselves in the unfortunate situation of having their game performance adversely effected by being in large multiplayer sessions. I'll not go into any real detail unless someone cares to ask, but the recent changes (KPTI) to the Windows kernel to address the 'Meltdown' vulnerability increased the CPU load, and latency introduced, when a program/game is doing frequent access to system level resources like networking or storage. This is a bit of a tangent, but since I'm here. The chances are though, that most peoples stuttering issues (and my lack of stuttering) are related to CPU load, more than graphical settings. This causes no problems for me, other than losing the home menu/settings for changing the volume, but you can do that in Windows: Then you can close Oculus Home, and it wont reopen when you start Project Cars 2. All you should need to do is right click on OculusClient.exe go to Properties/Compatibility and check 'Run As Administrator'. I install mine by running the installer, cancelling it, going to the folder, deleting all the crap, then re-running the installer like this.ĮDIT: Posters on the official forum feel that they get better performance without Oculus Home running in the background, which makes sense.
